Thank you for responding quickly.A quick google search suggests the YubiKey method for Multi-factor authentication in Joomla would work with Near Field Communication (NFC).

I did google it myself before posting, but additional hardware for authentication is not an option, but rather using a existing hardware such as phone's NFC or fingerprint sensor.
